Officers responded to a 911 call on Sept. 25 to find Steven Garcia, 39, on the front porch of his home shirtless and bloodied from an apparent self-inflicted wound. Garcia was shouting at his family and turned his ire toward police. He began waving a knife at them and telling them to shoot him, authorities said.

Garcia is free on bond, the Record said.
